You may have seen Sue Smith on TV. She’s usually found in some Sky sports studio chatting about football. You may have noticed her soft scouse tones. You may have marvelled at her perfectly quaffed quiff. No? Well we have. We might appreciate her quiff more than others because we know the journey it’s been on. Oh, it’s been on some journey. Like the David Beckham of the women’s semi-professional game, Sue Smith has had some very strong looks over the years. And now we – because no-one else will – are going to take you through our top 5. We love you Sue. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Mullet with pigtails
Two things that you never thought would exist together. But then you see it, you love it and you think – why the hell not? With a mullet you have all that extra hair hanging. People say less is more but they don’t know shit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. The bleach blonde half up half down
When Sue got bored of having two pigtails, she cut one off, added some highlights and boom – made a whole new hairstyle. Stylish and efficient. That’s our Sue.
3. Messy Quiff
Ready to go into battle, this spiky number fills us with big football energy. Sue could run through anything: defences, walls, the societal expectations to have normal, boring hairstyles. ⠀
4. Pink n’ Black
I was never an emo. I was more a long fringe, beret-wearing, coloured tights and Kate Nash kinda girl. But if I was an emo – this is how I would have worn my hair.
5. The Golden Crop
Makes us think of summer, beaches and pina coladas. A fun Sue Smith, enjoying her football and living in the moment. Like you’ve pulled off a round the world, chipped the keeper and slid on your knees to celebrate. Good times.
